Performances

We hold 2 main performance events each year.

Our Choreography Showcase in June and
our School Concert in November.

The Choreography Showcase gives students who wish to take part, a chance to perform their own piece on stage in front of our warm and wonderful community of families.

The Concerts are original stories, designed to highlight our students' skills and include all school-aged children. Costumes are purchased and kept by families and the use of projections and props create a fantastic setting for students to experience the magic of a live theatre.

We hire The Phoenix Theatre in Elwood for both events.

CONCERT 2024 - PETER PAN
Theatre Rehearsal: Tues 12 Nov (after school)
Performances: Sun 17 Nov 11am & 2.30pm
ASSESSMENTS
Assessments and Examinations are offered but not compulsory.
Assessments in the Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme of the Royal Ballet School in Levels 1, 2 and 3 are offered once the required standard has been achieved. These are filmed assessments which are moderated by the Royal Ballet School in London.
Examinations in the syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance are also offered to students attending syllabus classes. These are in-person exams with a visiting RAD Examiner.

UNIFORM
SHOES
It is vital that all ballet, jazz and tap shoes are professionally-fitted at a specialist dance shop.
We appreciate families taking the time to do this, as the safety and comfort of young, growing feet in any physical activity is paramount.

UNIFORM
For our preschool classes, our ballet uniform is recommended but optional. Our priority is that each child feels happy and settled.

Please contact us for information on uniform and shoes for your child's class/es.

HAIR
Please ensure that hair is tied back from the face for all classes.

Styles: A bun is preferable but a pony tail is acceptable for all preschool ballet and for jazz and tap

For school-aged ballet classes: We greatly appreciate it if hair could be placed in a bun.
This is important for a few reasons; namely safety when turning in particular, to protect the eyes from flicking hair, as well as making it possible for the teacher to see the line of the upper back and neck

STOCKISTS
Our nearest dance wear shop is CAPEZIO, 296 Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick.
Capezio have been our local stockists since 2014. They have all the SKBS uniform details and will be happy to help.
